The mega blockbuster film Avatar, had an opening screen debut of 27 million. In one of the most economically depressed times of the last few decades, James Cameron felt he had to make this film with a speculated budget of up to 500 million dollars. Being in the holiday spirit, wouldn’t it be great so send copies of this great film to dying, starving children in Somalia or some other depressed part of the world. Forget sponsoring a child this year, send a dying child a copy of Avatar (even a pirated copy should be fine if that is all you can get, as long as they get to see this film). There are millions of kids in ghettos, Africa, Iraq and Afghanistan that should watch this film to be able to forget how F***** up their life really is. Thanks James, I hope we can fill your pockets and the greasy executives you hang around with buy making your film a success.

Ok, the male geeks are going to be out in full force watching and rewatching until they finally pay their speculated 200-500 million dollars it cost to put this film together. Sorry small dying african child, we really need to see some weird blue creatures in 3d. It’s probably the best half a billion spent, considering what else could have been done with that money (feed millions of children, abolish cancer, jump start the Us economy, you know, unimportant things). That said, I’ll probably watch it.

Hollywood Film Avatar In Excess Of 200 Million Dollar Budget

Well, Hollywood is at it again with the latest James Cameron feature, Avatar. The budget is rumored to be in excess of $200 million dollars. The technology supposedly ground-breaking in the 3d effects digital world. Do we need to spend this much money for a one and a half our block of entertainment? Will the millions of Americans that are out of work go and see this film to forget their woes? It seems silly and over the top to spend this much on a film considering the state of the economy and truly serious issues in the world. If James Cameron is that great at churning out blockbuster films for exorbitant budgets, maybe he has a few ideas on jump starting the economy, giving health care for all, feeding the poor, etc. I would really like his opinion on these issues, and would like to ask him how he feels justified in spending over $200 million on a film.
